I think my brain has a very strange filing system. Important information sometimes disappears without warning, but completely useless details seem to have a permanent residence there. I can forget why I walked into a room and still remember a ridiculous sentence someone said months ago. I have decided not to fight this system. Apparently, management has its own priorities. There is something else I have noticed about myself. I don't particularly enjoy doing things just because everyone agrees that they are worth doing. If someone tells me that a movie is a masterpiece, I want to know why. If a book is considered essential reading, I become suspicious of the word essential. And if everyone suddenly starts loving the same thing, part of me becomes curious about what we are all missing. This doesn't mean I enjoy arguing. Actually, I find arguments without a sense of humor incredibly exhausting. I just like having my own reactions instead of borrowing them from the crowd. Sometimes my opinion changes completely after a good conversation, and I consider that a much better outcome than winning a pointless debate. I also have a slightly unreasonable respect for enthusiasm. Show me someone who can talk passionately about an obscure subject, and I will probably listen longer than expected. It could be astronomy, architecture, ancient civilizations or the complicated science of making the perfect pizza. I don't necessarily need to share the interest. I just love seeing that little spark appear in someone's eyes when they explain something they genuinely care about. Perhaps that is why I have never been particularly impressed by people who try very hard to appear impressive. I would rather hear about the ridiculous thing that made you laugh yesterday, the opinion you changed your mind about, or the one subject you could discuss for three hours without noticing the time. Of course, I understand that a dating site expects me to explain what kind of woman I am and what kind of man I hope to meet. The problem is that the more accurately I try to define myself, the more exceptions I discover. I enjoy being active, but I also appreciate doing nothing. I love learning new things, but I am perfectly capable of spending an evening watching a series that teaches me absolutely nothing. I can be thoughtful and sensible, then suddenly find something so funny that all dignity disappears. As for love, I suspect it would be nice to find a relationship where nobody feels obliged to become more predictable just to make the other person comfortable. Where we can have different opinions, ask strange questions, occasionally embarrass ourselves and still genuinely enjoy each other's company. And if I meet a man who can explain why he believes something without beginning the sentence with everybody knows, I may already be a little interested. My favorite hobby is learning languages. I love discovering how people from different countries express their thoughts, feelings and even humor. Sometimes one unusual word can tell you more about a culture than an entire travel guide. And I find it fascinating that the same sentence can sound romantic in one language and absolutely ridiculous in another!

I came to this dating site with a simple but exciting idea. Somewhere in the world there is a man whose story hasn't crossed mine yet, and perhaps one conversation is all it takes to change that. I want a relationship where friendship grows into attr
